Sangeet Bhavan Celebrates 38th Annual Festival with an Evening of Music, Rhythm and Kathak

Lucknow: The 38th Annual Festival of Sangeet Bhavan Academy was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Urdu Academy Auditorium, offering audiences a captivating evening of Indian classical music, instrumental performances, vocal recitals, and Kathak dance. The event was dedicated to the cherished memory of renowned music educator Pandit Kamal David, whose contribution to music education continues to inspire generations of students.

The auditorium resonated with melodies, rhythms, and graceful dance movements as budding artists and accomplished students showcased their talent before an appreciative audience of music lovers, parents, and distinguished guests.

The programme commenced with a grand ensemble performance by nine sitar players. Based on Raag Mishra Kafi, Raag Mishra Pilu, and Taal Deepchandi, the orchestral presentation featured Mihika Ganguly, Praveen Gaun, Bhavya Gupta, Bhavya Jain, Chanda Maidh, Vijayashree Singh, Avyukta, Atharva Srivastava, and Antara Bhattacharya. Their synchronized performance set the tone for an evening steeped in classical traditions.

The festival continued with a series of musical presentations, including Durga Chalisa Ragamala, the Sangeet Bhavan anthem, renditions based on Raag Bihag and Raag Lalit, and a soulful performance of Hanumanashtak. A group tabla recital also drew applause as students demonstrated their command over Teentaal, presenting traditional peshkar, kaydas, and intricate chakradhar tukdas with remarkable precision.

The grand finale featured a traditional Kathak dance performance, which beautifully combined rhythm, expression, and storytelling, earning widespread appreciation from the audience.

Several students impressed spectators with their artistic excellence throughout the evening. Among the performers were Soumya Goyal, Ravi Lele, Mihika, Avika, Atharva, Adrika, Ashvi, Avyukta, Gunashree, Karnika, Aastha, Praveen, Sunita, Madhuri, Suman, Deepika, Prachi, Avansh Singh Karki, Aastha Pandey, Meghashwini Mathur, Ashutosh Verma, Sarthak Mishra, Achit Agrawal, Praket Gupta, Mahak, Pari, Bhoomi, and Anjali.

The event was gracefully anchored by Ashutosh Verma and Antara Bhattacharya, who guided the audience through the diverse cultural presentations.

The annual celebration was attended by several eminent personalities, including Padma Gidwani, Tuhin Banerjee, Rudrendra Bhasak, Director General Telecom Ashutosh Pandey, Rashmi Pandey, Yogacharya Dr. Avadhesh Sharma, R. Ravindra, Milan Devanath, Biju Bhagwati, tabla expert Sheikh Mohammad Ibrahim, and Dr. S.K. Gopal.

Patrons of Sangeet Bhavan, including Gayatri David, Nivedita Bhattacharya, Dr. Sudha Dwivedi, and Jitesh Srivastava, were also present along with a large gathering of music enthusiasts and parents.

The festival once again highlighted Sangeet Bhavan Academy’s enduring commitment to preserving and promoting India’s rich classical heritage while providing a vibrant platform for young artists to nurture and showcase their talents.
