Mass Yoga Session Held at Jhandi Park on International Yoga Day

Mayor Sushma Kharkwal Urges Citizens to Make Yoga a Part of Daily Life

Lucknow: A grand mass yoga session was organized at Jhandi Park, located at the Lucknow Municipal Corporation headquarters, on the occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from public representatives, civic officials, employees, and citizens, with Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal attending as the chief guest.

Participating in the yoga session, the Mayor encouraged people to embrace yoga as an integral part of their daily lives and to help spread its benefits across society. She emphasized that yoga is a powerful tool for achieving physical fitness, mental well-being, and a balanced lifestyle.

Participants Listen to Prime Minister and Chief Minister’s Address

During the programme, attendees watched the live addresses of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on a large LED screen. Both leaders highlighted the significance of yoga in promoting healthy living, personal well-being, and nation-building.

Following the addresses, trained instructors from the AYUSH Department guided participants through various yoga postures, pranayama techniques, and meditation exercises, enabling them to experience the holistic benefits of yoga.

Yoga Gains Global Recognition Through India’s Efforts

Addressing the gathering, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal said that yoga has earned worldwide recognition due to the continuous efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She noted that countries across the globe have embraced this invaluable aspect of India’s ancient knowledge tradition, making yoga a universal symbol of health and wellness.

She further remarked that yoga is deeply rooted in India’s culture, civilization, and philosophy, helping individuals lead healthier, more balanced, and positive lives.

Uttar Pradesh Promoting Yoga and AYUSH Traditions

The Mayor also praised the initiatives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in promoting yoga and AYUSH traditions across Uttar Pradesh. She stated that the state government has been making sustained efforts to popularize yoga among people of all age groups, thereby contributing to the creation of a healthier and disease-free society.

‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’ Theme Highlights Holistic Well-Being

The programme was organized around this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” which emphasized the role of yoga in strengthening physical, mental, and spiritual health throughout life. Speakers highlighted that yoga is much more than a form of exercise; it is a path to self-discipline, healthy living, and positive thinking.

Regular yoga practice, they noted, not only helps prevent diseases but also promotes mental peace, emotional stability, and overall well-being.

Wide Participation from Public Representatives and Officials

The event was attended by MLA Ommani Verma from Naraini Assembly constituency in Banda district, BJP Office Co-Incharge Laxman Chaudhary, Deputy Leader of the Municipal Councillors’ Group Sushil Tiwari ‘Pammi’, Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, councillors Gauri Sanwaria, Geeta Devi, Saurabh Singh ‘Monu’, Himanshu Ambedkar, K.N. Singh, and several other elected representatives and civic officials.

Among those present were councillor representatives Madhubala Tripathi, Ashish Hitaishi, Purushottam Puri, Deepu Jaiswal, Ganesh Verma, Adarsh Mishra, former councillor Nagendra Singh, Additional Municipal Commissioners Abhinav Ranjan Srivastava and Pankaj Srivastava, Dr. Arvind Kumar Rao, along with officials, employees of the Municipal Corporation, and a large number of citizens.

Pledge to Adopt Yoga in Everyday Life

The programme concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to incorporate yoga into their daily routines. Speakers reiterated that yoga plays a vital role in building a healthy, prosperous, and developed India and urged every citizen to contribute to societal well-being through regular yoga practice.

The event successfully conveyed the message that yoga is not only a means of personal wellness but also a foundation for a healthier and stronger nation.
