Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma inaugurated a new bus service under the Chief Minister’s Rural Transport Scheme from Pandit Algu Rai Shastri Bus Station, marking a significant step toward improving connectivity between rural areas of Mau district and the district headquarters.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Sharma said the state government is committed to providing better transportation facilities in rural regions and ensuring that residents of remote villages have access to safe, affordable, and reliable travel options. He described the Chief Minister’s Rural Transport Scheme as a major initiative aimed at strengthening transport infrastructure across the state.
The minister noted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the government has undertaken a mission to connect distant and underserved rural areas with an efficient transportation network. The newly launched bus services are intended to make travel between villages and district headquarters more convenient while improving access to essential services and opportunities.
According to Sharma, a total of 24 buses have been proposed for operation in Mau district under the scheme. In the first phase, four buses were flagged off, with the remaining services expected to be introduced in the coming months. Once fully operational, the expanded network is expected to significantly enhance mobility for residents across the district.
He emphasized that improved transport connectivity will play a crucial role in supporting education, healthcare, employment, and commercial activities. Easier access to district centers will enable rural residents to avail themselves of key services and economic opportunities while reducing travel-related difficulties.

Sharma said Mau is steadily progressing on the path of development and that the introduction of new bus services will further accelerate the district’s growth. He added that the initiative would strengthen links between rural communities and urban centers, while also providing citizens with more accessible and convenient travel options.
Highlighting the broader impact of the programme, the minister stated that enhanced transportation facilities would contribute to both social and economic development by improving connectivity, encouraging local commerce, and supporting inclusive growth across the region.
He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the state’s Transport Minister for their support in implementing the scheme and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for rural residents through better infrastructure and public services.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by district development officials, representatives of the state road transport department, public representatives, senior administrative officers, and local citizens.
