Joint Transport and Police Drive in Gonda Targets Traffic Violators

Gonda: In a major step towards improving road safety and traffic management, the Transport Department and local police administration carried out a joint checking drive in Gonda on Thursday. Intensive vehicle inspections were conducted at Karnailganj Chauraha and Bargadi Mod Chauraha, where strict action was taken against violators of traffic regulations.

The campaign was led jointly by transport officials and the Circle Officer of Colonelganj. During the operation, special attention was given to vehicles operating without valid permits, overloaded vehicles, and those violating other traffic norms.

Officials verified important vehicle documents, including permits, fitness certificates, insurance papers, pollution certificates, and driving licences. Several vehicles were found operating without valid permits, following which challans and other legal actions were initiated under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Authorities also used the campaign to spread awareness among motorists regarding road safety. Two-wheeler riders were advised to wear helmets, while four-wheeler drivers were urged to use seat belts and follow prescribed speed limits.

ARTO (Administration) R.C. Bhartiya stated that the joint action by the district administration and transport department has increased public awareness about traffic rules and encouraged responsible driving behaviour. Officials further clarified that such enforcement drives will continue in the future to ensure safer roads and smoother traffic movement across the district.
