Jewar Airport Connectivity Set for Major Boost as CM Yogi Orders 110 Electric Buses

Modern public transport network to be operational before flight services begin at Noida International Airport

Lucknow: In a major push to strengthen connectivity to the upcoming Noida International Airport, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to deploy 110 electric buses in the initial phase to ensure seamless public transportation for passengers travelling to and from the airport.

The directions were issued during the fourth meeting of the State Transformation Commission, where the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of several key infrastructure and industrial projects across the state. Officials informed the meeting that operations at the Jewar airport are proposed to begin from June 15, prompting the government to accelerate transport readiness in the region.

The state government is simultaneously expanding electric mobility infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh. According to officials, nearly 15.5 lakh electric vehicles are currently registered in the state, while the government has set a target of establishing 10,000 EV charging stations by 2030. Around 2,500 charging stations have already become operational.

Reviewing major expressway projects, the Chief Minister stressed that improved connectivity would significantly boost industrial growth, investment and employment opportunities. He instructed officials to expedite land acquisition work for the Agra-Lucknow-Purvanchal Link Expressway, Jewar Link Expressway and Jhansi Link Expressway by the end of June. The meeting was informed that around 55 percent land acquisition for the Farrukhabad Link Expressway has already been completed, while the alignment for the Meerut-Haridwar Expressway has also received approval.

CM Yogi also reviewed the progress of the state’s multi-modal logistics and transport hubs. Officials stated that possession of 301 hectares out of 323 hectares has been secured for the Multi Modal Logistics Hub project, while 144 hectares out of the required 200 hectares has been acquired for the Multi Modal Transport Hub.

Emphasising faster implementation of investment projects, the Chief Minister warned against unnecessary delays and directed officials to maintain continuous engagement with investors. He also called for transparent and time-bound building approval processes under the model building bylaws adopted by industrial development authorities.

The meeting further reviewed the proposed Seed Park and Textile Park projects in Lucknow, defence corridor initiatives, agriculture export infrastructure and fisheries-based industrial development. Officials informed that Icons Hindustan Aerospace and Defense Systems Private Limited has proposed an investment of ₹125 crore in the Aligarh Defence Node under the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor project.

CM Yogi also reviewed the proposed Agriculture Export Hub near Jewar Airport and the Aqua Bridge project in Unnao. Officials said 29 acres of land have already been identified for the Agri Export Hub, while 60 acres have been earmarked for the Aqua Bridge project that will include fish processing, feed plants, packaging and export facilities.

The Chief Minister directed that all priority projects under the “CM Review” mechanism be closely monitored through a dedicated special cell at the Chief Minister’s Office to ensure timely execution and faster development across the state.
