Lucknow: In a significant step towards promoting art and culture, Bhatkhande Sanskriti University, Lucknow has granted temporary affiliation to “Kala Kunj”, located at Vivek Khand-2, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, for conducting diploma and certificate courses in music, dance, and performing arts.
The affiliation has been awarded in accordance with the university’s prescribed academic standards and regulations and will remain valid from the academic session 2026–27 to 2029–30. The move is expected to strengthen structured training and education in classical music, dance, and other cultural disciplines.
Operating under the leadership of director Archa Agrawal, Kala Kunj has received permission to conduct several diploma and certificate programmes across vocal music, instrumental music, percussion, and dance.
The approved two-year diploma programmes include classical vocal music under Praveshika and Parichay levels, instrumental training in sitar, guitar, violin, and flute, tabla in percussion studies, and classical dance forms including Kathak and Bharatanatyam.
Under its special programmes category, the institution will also offer a one-year diploma in dholak and folk music, a two-year diploma in light music (Sugam Sangeet), and six-month certificate courses in keyboard and Spanish guitar.
Expressing happiness over the affiliation, Vice Chancellor Prof. Mandavi Singh said the university’s objective is to expand access to quality arts education and connect more students with Indian music and cultural traditions.
She noted that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 envisions integrating art and culture into mainstream education to ensure the holistic development of students.
“Institutions like Kala Kunj will not only contribute significantly to quality art education but will also play an important role in connecting society with higher education and India’s rich cultural heritage,” she said.
Bhatkhande Sanskriti University is regarded as one of the state’s premier institutions in the field of classical music, dance, and performing arts, offering higher education, diploma, and research programmes in culture and fine arts.
