Lucknow: The Madeyganj Police Station police team arrested an accused for allegedly luring and taking away a minor girl from the area.
According to police officials, a complaint was lodged on May 19, 2026, by the victim’s father alleging that his 17-year-old daughter had been enticed and taken away by the accused. Based on the complaint, a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was immediately registered at the police station.
The investigation was being conducted by Sub-Inspector Dinesh Kumar Chaubey. Police teams examined CCTV footage from around the incident location and deployed informers while carrying out searches at possible hideouts of the accused and the missing girl.
During the course of investigation, the victim voluntarily appeared at the police station on May 22, 2026, after which police completed the necessary legal formalities.
Following further investigation and based on informer inputs, police arrested the named accused, Mohammad Umar, son of Mujeeb Ahmad and resident of Baba Ka Purwa, Mashalchi Tola, Khadra area under Madeyganj police station limits.

The accused, aged around 20 years, was arrested near Rajdhani Hospital close to the old Pakka Pul area on May 23, 2026, at around 12:40 pm. Police informed him about the charges under the relevant sections of the BNS at the time of arrest.
Further legal proceedings in the case are currently underway. Police officials also stated that information regarding the accused’s criminal history is being collected from other police stations and districts.
The arrest operation was carried out by Dinesh Kumar Chaubey along with Head Constable Tufail Ahmad and Constable Avdhesh Kumar.
