Lucknow: Lucknow is set to add a new landmark to its urban landscape with the installation of a model of India’s indigenous fighter aircraft HAL Tejas on the newly developed Green Corridor. The initiative is aimed at enhancing the city’s visual appeal while showcasing India’s growing defence capabilities and inspiring young citizens.
According to Prathamesh Kumar, the project is being undertaken on the initiative of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The model of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas has been procured from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in Bengaluru following the Defence Minister’s recommendation.
Officials said the aircraft model is currently being kept safely at Janeshwar Mishra Park and will soon be installed near the entry point rotary of the Green Corridor close to Samta Mulak Chauraha. The rotary is also proposed to be renamed as “Tejas Chauraha.”
Prathamesh Kumar stated that foundation work and beautification of the installation site are already underway. The model is expected to be shifted from Janeshwar Mishra Park and installed at the Green Corridor within the next 15 days.

He said the landmark would allow thousands of daily commuters and visitors to witness a symbol of the Indian Air Force’s pride and the country’s indigenous defence achievements.
The Tejas aircraft model will measure approximately 15 feet in length with a wingspan of 9.5 feet and will weigh nearly 200 kilograms. Officials said the structure closely resembles the original fighter aircraft and is designed to reflect the technological strength and defence preparedness of India.
The Lucknow Development Authority believes the installation will not only become a major attraction along the Green Corridor but will also reinforce Lucknow’s growing association with the defence and aerospace sector.
