Lucknow to Host India–West Indies T20 Opener on October 6 at Ekana Stadium

Lucknow: In a major boost for cricket lovers in the city, Lucknow has been awarded the hosting rights for a high-profile T20 International between India national cricket team and West Indies cricket team. The opening match of the five-match T20 series will be played on October 6 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

The announcement has sparked excitement across the “City of Nawabs,” as fans look forward to witnessing top-tier international cricket action after a long gap. The clash between the reigning T20 world champions India and the Caribbean side is expected to draw a packed house and electrifying atmosphere.

The Ekana Stadium is set for a busy cricket calendar even before the marquee T20 fixture. Following the IPL season, Lucknow will also host the second One Day International between India national cricket team and Afghanistan national cricket team on June 17 as part of a three-match ODI series.

Additionally, the city has been allotted seven matches in the upcoming phase of the Indian Premier League, further cementing its status as a key venue in India’s cricketing circuit. Two fixtures had already been announced earlier, with the remaining matches now added to the schedule.

  • May 23: Lucknow Super Giants vs Punjab Kings

With a packed schedule that includes IPL fixtures, an India–Afghanistan ODI, and the marquee India–West Indies T20, Lucknow is all set to emerge as a major hub of cricketing action in the coming months.
