Uttar Pradesh Government Extends Public Holiday for Ram Navami, March 26–27

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced an additional day of public holiday for Ram Navami celebrations this year. While March 26 was already a declared holiday, March 27 will now also be observed as a public holiday across the state.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the decision was made considering the increasing number of devotees visiting temples during the festival and the public sentiment associated with the occasion. The consecutive two-day holiday will provide devotees with ample opportunity for worship, rituals, and temple visits, while also allowing authorities to manage arrangements more efficiently.

Ram Navami sees large gatherings at major religious sites across the state, including Ayodhya, one of the most prominent pilgrimage destinations. With crowds expected to swell this year, the government’s decision aims to ensure smooth management of both devotees and public services.

Officials noted that the extended holiday will also aid in organizing traffic, security, and other arrangements at temples and key public areas. The move has been widely welcomed as a gesture of respect for religious sentiments and devotion.

The government had initially declared March 26 as a holiday; however, in light of anticipated crowds and to facilitate devotees, the holiday has been extended to March 27 as well.
