UP to Turn into a Grand Spiritual Hub During Navratri; Govt Plans Mega Events Across Shaktipeeths

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is set to transform into a vibrant centre of devotion during the ongoing Chaitra Navratri, with the state government planning large-scale religious and cultural events across major temples and Shaktipeeths from March 25 to 27.

Acting on the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Department of Culture is organizing a series of devotional programmes including bhajans, Devi geet, recitations of the Durga Saptashati, and spiritual gatherings during the auspicious Saptami, Ashtami, and Navami days.

Grand Celebrations Across Key Temples

The celebrations will take place at prominent Shaktipeeths and Devi temples across the state, including Vindhyavasini Devi Temple, Shakumbhari Devi Temple, Alopi Devi Temple, and Chandrika Devi Temple, among many others.

These events will feature performances by local artists, bhajan mandalis, and cultural groups, selected in advance to ensure a rich spiritual experience for devotees.

Focus on Women’s Participation

In a unique initiative, the celebrations are being linked with the state’s flagship women empowerment campaign, Mission Shakti. The move aims to enhance the participation of women and girls in religious and cultural activities, reinforcing the broader message of empowerment and inclusion.

Officials said the programmes will not only celebrate faith but also highlight the role of women in preserving cultural traditions and community engagement.

Administrative Coordination and Public Participation

The state government has directed district administrations, police, and municipal bodies to ensure seamless आयोजन through coordinated efforts. Emphasis has been placed on encouraging large-scale public participation, making the festival a people-driven celebration.

All arrangements—including artist coordination, scheduling, and logistics—are being executed in collaboration with local authorities to ensure timely completion.

Enhanced Facilities and Safety Measures

With a significant influx of devotees expected at major mandir sites, special focus has been placed on safety, cleanliness, and public convenience. Authorities have been instructed to:

  • Ensure proper queue management to avoid overcrowding
  • Provide adequate drinking water and shaded waiting areas
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation with additional cleaning staff if needed
  • Arrange sound, lighting, and seating facilities at event venues

Security arrangements are also being strengthened to ensure a safe and smooth experience for visitors.

A Spiritual and Cultural Showcase

The initiative aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a hub of spiritual tourism while celebrating its rich religious heritage. By combining devotion with cultural expression and women’s participation, the state government is seeking to create a “bhakti mahakumbh” during Navratri.

With preparations in full swing, the three-day celebration promises to draw thousands of devotees to temples across the state, offering a unique blend of spirituality, tradition, and community participation.
