Anti-Corruption Team Conducts Raid at Vikas Bhawan in Gonda, Two Clerks Taken for Questioning

Gonda: In a significant action against alleged corruption, an anti-corruption team carried out a surprise raid at Vikas Bhawan in Gonda, creating panic among officials and staff across departments.

According to sources, the team arrived around 10:30 AM and conducted searches in multiple offices before taking two senior clerks along for questioning. The individuals have been identified as Arunendra Singh, posted in the Social Welfare Department, and Uday Bhan Singh from the Backward Class Welfare Department.

Officials said the action was swift and conducted without prior notice. The team reportedly took both clerks into custody without extensive formalities, leading to a tense atmosphere inside the building. Employees from various departments appeared visibly anxious, and an atmosphere of uncertainty prevailed throughout the compound.

Following the raid, the mobile phones of both officials were reportedly switched off, fueling speculation among staff about the nature of the investigation. While no official statement has yet been released, sources indicated that the action is part of an ongoing crackdown on corruption in the district.

Notably, this is the second consecutive day of action by anti-corruption authorities. On Tuesday, another official, Vidyabhushan Mishra, a district coordinator in the Basic Education Department, was taken into custody over allegations of demanding commission in a furniture procurement case.

The back-to-back actions suggest that agencies have intensified efforts to tackle corruption in the district. The anti-corruption team is currently interrogating the detained clerks, and further developments are expected as the investigation progresses.

Officials have remained tight-lipped so far, but sources indicate that more revelations may emerge in the coming days
