Lucknow: The Lucknow Police Commissionerate’s team from Chinhat Police Station has arrested a 20-year-old accused for allegedly luring away a minor girl and committing an offence against her. The accused was apprehended from Barethi village in the Deva police station area of Barabanki district.
The arrested accused has been identified as Aman Prajapati, son of late Mayaram Prajapati, a resident of Barethi village under Deva police station in Barabanki. He was arrested in connection with Case No. 403/2025 registered at Chinhat police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with sections 3/4(2) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
According to police officials, the case was registered on August 5, 2025 after the complainant alleged that her minor daughter had been lured away by the accused. Acting promptly, the police initiated an investigation and successfully recovered the minor girl safely the same day.
The investigation of the case was carried out by Sub-Inspector Tej Kumar Shukla of Chinhat police station. During the course of the probe, statements of the victim were recorded and additional evidence was collected, following which further charges under Section 65(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant sections of the POCSO Act were added.

Subsequently, the named accused Aman Prajapati was arrested from his residence in Barethi village. Police officials stated that further legal proceedings are being carried out in the case.
The arrest was made by a police team comprising Sub-Inspector Tej Kumar Shukla, Constable Abhimanyu Chaudhary and Constable Rampal Jaiswal of Chinhat police station. Authorities also said that details of any other criminal history of the accused are being verified.
