Lucknow: As part of the ongoing Mission Shakti 5.0 campaign, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate organised a special awareness and child safety programme at the Kalam Foundation NGO in the Madiyav, Lucknow area on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The programme was conducted by the police team from Madiyav Police Station to promote awareness among women and girls about their rights, personal safety and available government support systems. The initiative aimed to empower participants with knowledge and practical guidance to help them stay safe and confident.
The awareness session was led by Sub-Inspector Arju Prajapati and Constable Ankita Rai. Other police personnel who participated in the programme included Constable Divya Shukla, Constable Sandhya Bharti and Constable Ravish Yadav. Women and girls associated with the NGO actively attended the event.
During the programme, police officials provided detailed information about the functioning of women safety centres, Mission Shakti centres and women help desks established at police stations. Participants were also briefed about various government welfare schemes aimed at the protection and empowerment of women and girls.
A key part of the session focused on educating young girls about personal safety through awareness of “Good Touch and Bad Touch.” The police team explained how children can recognise inappropriate behaviour and encouraged them to report such incidents without hesitation.
The officers also distributed pamphlets and explained important emergency helpline numbers, including 112 (Police Assistance), 108 (Ambulance), 1098 (Child Helpline), 181 (Women Helpline), 1090 (Women Power Line), 1930 (Cyber Helpline) and 1076 (Chief Minister Helpline).
In addition, the participants were informed about common cyber frauds and preventive measures to protect themselves while using digital platforms. The police team urged women and girls to remain vigilant and immediately seek help in case of suspicious online activities.
Officials said the awareness campaign is an important step towards ensuring child safety and empowering women through knowledge and community engagement. The Lucknow Police reiterated its commitment to strengthening women’s safety initiatives and creating a secure and fear-free environment for women and children through the Mission Shakti campaign.
