Gonda: A grand programme was organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day at the Mujehna Development Block campus in Gonda district, where several initiatives aimed at promoting women’s empowerment, self-reliance and education were launched.
The event was chaired by District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, who emphasized the vital role of women in the progress of society and encouraged students to pursue education and achieve their aspirations.
During the programme, an AIoT and Computer Lab, the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) facility, and the Maa Siddhidatri Library were formally inaugurated at the Block Resource Centre Mujehna. The facilities were inaugurated by the District Magistrate along with local public representatives, including the Block Pramukh of Itiyathok Poonam Dwivedi, the Block Pramukh of Mujehna and the Chairperson of Dhaneipur Nagar Panchayat. The initiative aims to connect girls with modern technological education and provide improved learning resources.
On the occasion, women and students who have excelled in various fields across the district were honoured with certificates, health kits and ceremonial shawls. Officials highlighted that empowering women through education and economic opportunities remains a key priority of the administration.
As part of the programme, 101 women caretakers working at community toilets were empowered by distributing keys to Gonard Swachhata Mart outlets, enabling them to move towards self-employment and financial independence. The initiative aims to help these women progress toward becoming “Lakhpati Didis.”

In another step to strengthen child welfare and early education, 68 Anganwadi workers from the Department of Child Development and Nutrition were handed over the keys to newly constructed Anganwadi centres. This will help improve access to nutrition services and early childhood education for women and children.
Keys to newly sanctioned houses were also distributed to eligible women beneficiaries during the programme.
Several public representatives and officials present at the event reiterated that government schemes are continuously being implemented to promote women’s empowerment and self-reliance.
Among those present were District Development Officer, DC NRLM, the Block Development Officer and other administrative officials along with local representatives and community members.
