Gonda: A review meeting of ongoing works under the Jal Jeevan Mission was held at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan. The meeting focused on assessing the progress of projects aimed at ensuring safe and clean drinking water in rural areas of the district.
During the review, the District Magistrate directed officials to provide updated information on the status of works being carried out in various gram panchayats and majras. She specifically asked the department to clarify how many gram panchayats and hamlets in the district have already begun receiving smooth piped drinking water supply under the scheme.
The District Magistrate instructed the Executive Engineer (XEN) to submit a comprehensive report in the prescribed format detailing the drinking water supply status across all gram panchayats and majras at the earliest. She stated that the report would help in accurately assessing the real progress of the projects and identifying areas where work remains incomplete or water supply has yet to begin.
Emphasizing quality standards, Priyanka Niranjan made it clear that no compromise would be tolerated in construction works being carried out under the Jal Jeevan Mission in rural areas. She reiterated that the scheme aims to provide pure and safe drinking water to villagers and therefore all works must strictly adhere to prescribed technical standards.
The District Magistrate also directed officials to ensure that all projects are completed within the stipulated timeline. She warned that responsibility would be fixed on concerned officers if unnecessary delays are found in the implementation of the works.
She further instructed officials to conduct regular field inspections to monitor both the progress and quality of the projects so that the benefits of the scheme reach rural residents on time.
Additional District Magistrate Alok Kumar, the Executive Engineer of the Jal Nigam Department, and officials from implementing agencies were present at the meeting and were given necessary directions for effective implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the district.
