Mission Shakti 5.0 Awareness Programme Organised in Thawar Village to Empower Women

Lucknow: As part of the ongoing women empowerment initiative “Mission Shakti 5.0 – Educated Women, Empowered Society”, an awareness programme was organised in Thawar village under the jurisdiction of Mal Police Station, Lucknow to educate women and girls about their rights, safety measures and government welfare schemes.

The programme was conducted under the direction of Amrendra Kumar Sengar, the Police Commissioner of Lucknow, as part of the broader campaign being implemented across the city to promote women’s safety and empowerment.

Officials said that the Lucknow Police Commissionerate has been actively organising awareness activities under Mission Shakti 5.0 across the district. As part of this initiative, Mission Shakti centres have been established in all 54 police stations of Lucknow, where dedicated officers, including inspectors, additional inspectors, sub-inspectors and women sub-inspectors, have been deployed to ensure prompt resolution of women-related complaints.

Awareness Session in Thawar Village

The awareness programme in Thawar village was conducted by Woman Constable Rani from Mal Police Station. During the session, women and girls were informed in detail about their legal rights, safety measures, government welfare schemes and self-defence techniques.

Participants were also briefed about the various services and initiatives launched by the Uttar Pradesh Police to enhance women’s safety, including Smart City surveillance cameras, field police patrolling and Anti-Romeo squads that work to prevent harassment and ensure public safety.

Information on Emergency Helplines

The police team highlighted several helpline services available for women and children in distress. These include:

  • 1090 – Women Power Helpline
  • 181 – Women Helpline
  • 112 – Emergency Response Service
  • 1098 – Childline
  • 1930 – Cyber Crime Helpline

Women were also encouraged to use the UP COP App to report complaints or seek assistance from the police.

Officials informed participants that in cases of harassment, violence, cybercrime or any form of exploitation, women can immediately seek help through these helplines or by contacting the nearest police station.

Key Awareness Points

During the programme, the police team focused on several important issues, including:

  • Encouraging self-reliance and self-defence among women and girls.
  • Educating participants about “Good Touch” and “Bad Touch” to raise awareness about personal safety.
  • Providing guidance on cyber safety, precautionary measures and reporting procedures.
  • Spreading awareness about child marriage prohibition laws, women’s legal rights and government welfare schemes.
  • Distributing pamphlets and informational material among women and girls present at the event.

Building a Safer Society

Officials said that Mission Shakti 5.0 aims not only to make women aware of their rights but also to strengthen their confidence and ability to seek help when needed. The campaign seeks to promote respect, security and equality for women in society.

The initiative, they added, is an important step towards building a safe, dignified and inclusive social environment where women and girls can live without fear and participate equally in all aspects of life.
