Man Arrested for Allegedly Luring Minor Girl on False Promise of Marriage in Lucknow

Lucknow: Police from Mahigawan Police Station, Lucknow have arrested a man accused of luring away a minor girl on the false promise of marriage, officials said.

According to police, a case was registered on February 19 after the victim’s mother filed a written complaint alleging that her minor daughter had been enticed and taken away by the accused. Based on the complaint, FIR No. 25/2026 was lodged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

During the course of the investigation, the complainant later informed the police on March 3 that her daughter had safely returned home. As per legal procedure, the minor was produced before authorities and sent to a child care facility in Sindhikheda.

Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the accused, identified as Satish (24), a daily wage labourer and resident of Kaimai village under Deva Police Station, Barabanki, currently living in Chakpurwa. He was apprehended near the Mawai Kala intersection within the jurisdiction of Mahigawan Police Station, Lucknow on March 4.

Police said the accused had allegedly lured the minor girl by promising marriage and persuading her to leave home. After his arrest, he was informed of the charges and taken into custody in compliance with legal and human rights guidelines.

The accused is being produced before the court, while further investigation in the case is underway. The arrest was made by a police team led by Sub-Inspector Jagmohan Dubey along with other personnel of Mahigawan police station.
