Historic Step on Tamsa River: Foundation Laid for Pipa Bridge at Hanuman Ghat After 100 Years

Mau/Lucknow: In a landmark development for Mau district, Uttar Pradesh’s Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma laid the foundation stone for the construction of a Pipa (pontoon) bridge at Hanuman Ghat on the banks of the Tamsa River. The long-awaited project is expected to resolve a century-old connectivity issue and significantly boost regional development.

The foundation ceremony witnessed the presence of public representatives, senior officials, and a large gathering of local residents. The atmosphere was celebratory, as people expressed relief and happiness over the commencement of the much-anticipated infrastructure project.

Century-Old Problem Addressed

Addressing the gathering, Minister Sharma described the occasion as historic for the region. He noted that for nearly 100 years, residents had struggled to cross the Tamsa River, especially during the monsoon season when transportation was severely disrupted. The lack of reliable connectivity had adversely affected trade, education, healthcare access, and daily life in dozens of surrounding villages.

“With the construction of this Pipa bridge, a permanent solution to these challenges is now within reach,” he said.

Boost to Connectivity and Local Economy

The bridge will not only connect two geographical ends of the river but also strengthen social, economic, and cultural ties between communities on both banks. Improved connectivity is expected to directly benefit farmers, traders, students, and local residents.

Farmers will find it easier to transport agricultural produce to markets, while local businesses are likely to witness increased activity. The project is also expected to generate employment opportunities and open new avenues for small enterprises in the region.

Improved Access to Education and Healthcare

Highlighting the government’s priorities, Sharma emphasized that ensuring smooth access to education and healthcare services remains a key focus area. The bridge will significantly reduce travel time for students commuting to schools and colleges and provide faster access to hospitals during emergencies.

He added that the state government is committed to balanced and inclusive development, reducing the rural-urban divide, strengthening infrastructure, and creating local employment opportunities. The Pipa bridge project reflects this broader vision for comprehensive growth.

Focus on Quality and Timely Completion

The minister directed officials to ensure that the construction work is carried out with high quality standards and completed within the stipulated timeframe. He stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in development works, warning that any negligence would not be tolerated.

Holi Greetings and Call for Unity

On the occasion of Holi, Minister Sharma extended warm greetings to the residents of the district. He urged people to celebrate the festival with harmony, love, and brotherhood, stating that just as Holi brings people together in vibrant colors, this development initiative will unite the region with renewed energy and opportunity.

The foundation of the Pipa bridge at Hanuman Ghat marks a transformative step for Mau district, promising improved connectivity, economic growth, and a better quality of life for thousands of residents.
