Chinhat Police Arrest Accused for Allegedly Luring and Abducting Minor Girl

Lucknow: The Chinhat Police Station has arrested a 28-year-old man accused of luring and taking away a minor girl, officials said.

According to police, FIR No. 59/26 was registered on February 2, 2026, under Sections 87 and 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Chinhat Police Station following a complaint by the girl’s mother. The complainant alleged that the accused had enticed her minor daughter and taken her away without consent.

Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, the investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Dhananjay Kumar Singh, launched a search operation. On February 28, 2026, the minor girl was safely recovered from near Picnic Spot Road in Chandrapur, Indira Nagar.

Continuing the investigation, the police team apprehended the accused, identified as Lalit Awasthi, son of Chandra Kumar Awasthi, a resident of Newada Goyla under Chinhat Police Station, Lucknow. He was arrested on March 1, 2026, from the vicinity of Picnic Spot Road in Chandrapur, Indira Nagar.

Police have initiated further legal proceedings against the accused in connection with the registered case.

The arresting team comprised Sub-Inspector Dhananjay Kumar Singh, Sub-Inspector Ajay Kumar, Woman Sub-Inspector Priyanka Rathore Kumar, and Head Constable Rajkumar of Chinhat Police Station.

Police officials reiterated their commitment to taking swift and strict action in cases involving minors and ensuring their safety.
