Mumbai: On the sacred occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company unveiled the powerful first poster of their much-anticipated historical epic Raja Shivaji.
Actor-director Riteish Deshmukh took to social media to reveal the striking visual, portraying him as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a commanding side profile. Sword gripped firmly, shoulders squared, and gaze unwavering, the poster captures the silence before the storm — embodying the solemn vow that would lead to the birth of Swarajya and ignite a nation’s pride.
Positioned as one of the biggest cinematic spectacles for a pan-India audience and a proud cultural offering for the global stage, Raja Shivaji is an ambitious bilingual (Marathi and Hindi) action drama. The film brings together formidable creative forces, including music by celebrated duo Ajay–Atul and cinematography by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Santosh Sivan, underscoring the scale and grandeur befitting the legacy it seeks to honour.
More than the story of a king, Raja Shivaji chronicles the journey of a son who took an oath and rose against formidable powers to carve the path for Swarajya. It tells the tale of a beloved warrior who chose rebellion over submission, shaping the course of India’s resistance movement. The makers aim to transcend linguistic boundaries and present this iconic Indian narrative as a cinematic tribute mounted on a truly global canvas.

Presented by Jio Studios and produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia D’Souza under the banner of Mumbai Film Company, Raja Shivaji is set for a worldwide theatrical release on May 1, 2026.
The legend rises once more — and a cinematic roar is ready to echo across India and beyond.
