Chandauli: With the festival of Holi approaching, lakhs of people working in different parts of the country are preparing to travel home to celebrate with their families. In view of the anticipated rush, Indian Railways has announced the operation of special Holi trains on key Uttar Pradesh–Bihar routes.
According to Saraswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway, the Railways will operate nine pairs (18 trains) of Holi Special services to accommodate the additional passenger load. The move is expected to provide significant relief to travelers heading to UP and Bihar during the festive season.
Below is the detailed list of the special trains and their schedules:
1. Train No. 08439/08440 Puri–Patna–Puri Special

08439 Puri–Patna Special: From February 28 to March 28, 2026 (every Saturday). Departs Puri at 2:55 PM, arrives Patna at 10:45 AM the next day via Kharagpur, Asansol, and Jhajha.

08440 Patna–Puri Special: From March 1 to March 29, 2026 (every Sunday). Departs Patna at 1:30 PM, reaches Puri at 9:45 AM the next day.
2. Train No. 09031/09032 Udhna–Hasanpur Road–Udhna Special

09031 Udhna–Hasanpur Road Special: From February 22 to March 29, 2026 (every Sunday). Departs Udhna at 11:25 AM, reaching DDU at 10:30 AM (next day), Patliputra at 2:15 PM, Muzaffarpur at 5:10 PM, and Hasanpur Road at 8:00 PM.

4. Train No. 09451/09452 Gandhidham–Bhagalpur–Gandhidham Special

These services will operate as Holi Specials on their existing timings and stoppages via Gorakhpur, Narkatiaganj, Motihari, Muzaffarpur, and Barauni.
