Lucknow/Prayagraj: In a significant organisational move ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the Congress party has appointed High Court advocate and former Allahabad University student leader Anuj Yadav as the State Secretary of its Legal Department.
The appointment comes amid a series of marathon meetings being held in Lucknow by Congress National General Secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Avinash Pande and Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President Ajay Rai to strengthen the party’s organisational structure in the state.
The appointment letter was issued by Ajay Rai along with Legal Department Chairman Ali Asif Zama Rizvi, expressing confidence that Anuj Yadav will play a key role in reinforcing the party’s legal framework across Uttar Pradesh.
Anuj Yadav is the son of former High Court Bar Association Vice President Hira Lal Yadav and is also a family member of senior Congress leader and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Governor Ram Naresh Yadav. His appointment has been welcomed by advocates and Congress workers, who see it as a strategic step towards energising the party’s legal cell in the run-up to the 2027 polls.
