Governor’s Address a Bundle of Lies and Hollow Promises of BJP Government: Aradhana Mishra Mona

India Alliance Protests on Unemployment, Inflation, Farmers’ Issues, Poor Healthcare and SIR on First Day of Assembly Session

Lucknow: Leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Uttar Pradesh, Aradhana Mishra Mona, launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Yogi Adityanath government, calling the Governor’s address “a bundle of lies and hollow promises.” She said the fact that the Governor did not read the full address but only a few portions of it itself exposes the false claims and unfulfilled assurances of the BJP government.

Reacting to the Governor’s address on the first day of the Assembly session, Aradhana Mishra Mona said the address runs into 55 pages, most of which are filled with claims and promises that have already been proven false. She stated that the Governor has been holding office in Uttar Pradesh for a considerable period and is well aware of the anti-people policies, misleading propaganda and working style of the BJP government. “That is why she chose to read only select portions of the address and complete the formality, as repeatedly reading out the BJP’s falsehoods is not possible,” she said.

She alleged that for the past ten years the BJP government has been rebranding old schemes and projects and presenting them as new achievements, a fact that the public is well aware of. “There was nothing new in the address that could be counted as a genuine achievement of the government,” she added.

Questioning the claims on law and order, the Congress leader said the government’s assertions are far from reality. “Action is being taken selectively on the basis of caste and religion, crimes have increased, corruption has gone up tenfold, and lakhs of posts in the police department are still lying vacant. Instead of regular recruitment, the government is indulging in self-praise,” she said. She further alleged that despite the availability of government jobs, youth are being denied permanent employment and are instead being hired on outsourcing, which is playing with the future of young people in the state.

Aradhana Mishra Mona said the address itself exposes the government’s failures. Referring to the sections on health services mentioned on pages 17, 18 and 19 of the address, she said the ground reality is completely different. “The government advertised the setting up of medical colleges in every district, but in most places neither the buildings are complete nor are there doctors, paramedical staff or adequate medicines,” she alleged.

On agriculture, she said the address mentions the sector on pages 6, 7, 8 and 9 but offers nothing new. “The truth is that farmers did not get urea and DAP on time, and farmers even lost their lives while standing in queues for fertilizers,” she said. Criticising the trade deal with the United States, she termed it “an attack on farmers’ livelihoods.” She claimed that agricultural produce exported from India to the US will attract an 18 per cent tariff, compared to 9 per cent during the Congress regime, while American farmers will be able to sell their products in India without paying any import duty. “This is a direct betrayal of the country’s annadata (food providers),” she said.

Summing up, Aradhana Mishra Mona said the Governor’s address was nothing but a compilation of the BJP government’s self-glorification and false promises, which even the Governor clearly understands. “That is why she did not read the entire address. The people of the state are fed up with the BJP’s lies. Everyone now understands the hollowness of its claims, and the BJP’s exit in 2027 is certain,” she asserted.

Earlier in the day, on the first day of the Assembly session, the Congress, along with other parties of the INDIA alliance, staged a joint protest near the statue of Chaudhary Charan Singh in the Assembly परिसर. The protest focused on issues of unemployment, inflation, farmers’ distress, the poor state of healthcare services, and alleged irregularities in SIR leading to vote suppression.
