Animal Medicine Centres to Open in Every Development Block of UP

Lucknow: In a major initiative aimed at providing affordable and quality veterinary medicines to livestock farmers, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to establish Animal Medicine Centres across the state. These centres will be set up on the lines of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras, with one Animal Medicine Centre to be opened in each development block of every district.

The initiative is intended to ensure easy availability of low-cost medicines for the treatment of animals, thereby strengthening animal healthcare services and supporting livestock farmers at the grassroots level.

Mandatory Documents for Applicants

Chief Veterinary Officer of Lucknow, Dr Suresh Kumar, informed that applicants interested in opening an Animal Medicine Centre must submit mandatory documents. These include details of a qualified pharmacist along with valid registration, proof of a minimum shop area of 120 square feet, and a valid drug sale licence.

Online Application Process

Applicants will be required to pay an application fee of Rs 5,000. The entire application process will be conducted online. Interested candidates can apply through the official portal at http://pashuaushadhi.dahd.gov.in.

Affordable Medicines for Livestock Farmers

Dr Suresh Kumar further stated that under the scheme, priority will be given to eligible beneficiaries associated with Pradhan Mantri Krishi Samriddhi Kendras and cooperative societies. The scheme will be implemented under the Government of India’s Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LHDCP).

With the establishment of Animal Medicine Centres, livestock farmers will gain timely access to affordable veterinary medicines, helping improve animal health and making animal husbandry a more profitable occupation across the state.
