Student Held at Lucknow Metro Station With Country-Made Pistol in Bag, Sent to Jail

Lucknow | A B.Com student was arrested after a country-made pistol was recovered from his bag during a routine security check at KD Singh Babu Stadium Metro Station in Lucknow. Police have registered a case under the Arms Act and sent the accused to jail.

According to police officials, the incident occurred on Tuesday when the student arrived at the metro station carrying a bag. During scanning through the X-BIS security machine, security personnel detected a firearm inside the bag. The youth was immediately detained, and Hazratganj police were informed.

ACP Hazratganj Vikas Jaiswal said that on receiving information, police teams reached the spot and took custody of the accused. The recovered weapon was identified as a .315 bore country-made pistol.

The accused was later brought to the Hazratganj police station for questioning. He identified himself as Akshat Kanojia, a resident of Vrindavan Colony under the PGI police station area. During interrogation, the student claimed that he had found the pistol lying near Janeshwar Mishra Park and had kept it in his bag.

Sub-Inspector Ankit Kumar registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Arms Act. Following legal formalities, the student was produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.

Police officials said further investigation is underway to verify the accused’s claim regarding the source of the weapon.
