Akshay Kumar Returns to Television After a Decade as Host of Sony TV’s ‘Wheel of Fortune’

Mumbai |Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has made a much-anticipated return to television after nearly a decade, taking on the role of host for Sony TV’s new reality game show ‘Wheel of Fortune’, which premiered on January 27. Following the show’s launch, Akshay reflected on his long journey in the entertainment industry and shared insights into his career and life philosophy.

A Special Bond with Television

Television has always held a significant place in Akshay Kumar’s career. He first appeared as a TV host in 2004 with Seven Deadly Arts with Akshay Kumar. Between 2008 and 2011, he became a familiar face on Indian television as the host of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi. Over the years, he also served as a judge on MasterChef India, mentored contestants on Dare 2 Dance, and judged The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2017.

Now, after ten years, Wheel of Fortune marks his full-time return to television hosting.

Why He Chose ‘Wheel of Fortune’

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Akshay explained the reason behind his comeback. He said he wanted to do something that felt genuine and joyful. According to him, Wheel of Fortune instantly appealed to him because of its simplicity and emotional connect. The actor highlighted that the show celebrates participation, quick thinking, and family bonding—values that are very close to his heart.

On the Changing Face of Television

Commenting on the evolution of television, Akshay noted that the small screen is no longer just about watching content, but about engaging, participating, and playing along. When asked about the moment that changed his destiny, the actor firmly stated that success does not come from a single breakthrough.

He shared that his life changed the day he chose discipline over comfort. Coming from a modest background, he believes every opportunity came his way because of punctuality, hard work, and honesty towards his craft. According to Akshay, it was not one magical moment but a series of consistent choices that gradually transformed his life.

He added that when preparation meets opportunity, the “wheel” eventually turns in one’s favour.

Upcoming Film Projects

On the film front, Akshay Kumar will soon be seen in director Priyadarshan’s upcoming movie ‘Bhoot Bangla’, where he will share screen space with Paresh Rawal and Wamiqa Gabbi in key roles.
