Uttar Pradesh to Develop ‘Future-Ready Tehsils’ to Transform Revenue Administration

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is set to modernize the state’s revenue administration by developing ‘Future-Ready Tehsils’, an initiative aligned with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of digital, transparent, and citizen-centric governance.

Under this initiative, tehsils across the state will be transformed into model administrative centers equipped with advanced digital services, artificial intelligence (AI)-based systems, e-filing facilities, online record management, and smart infrastructure. The move aims to make revenue services faster, more efficient, and easily accessible to citizens while strengthening e-governance at the grassroots level.

According to officials, a comprehensive survey of existing tehsils is currently underway, assessing their present infrastructure, required upgrades, and future needs. Based on this assessment, a detailed framework for Future-Ready Tehsils is being prepared, with a target for completion by June 2026.

The initiative is an extension of the state government’s broader digital governance campaign, which seeks to fully digitize revenue services. Once implemented, services such as land registration, issuance of certificates, and dispute resolution will be largely conducted through digital platforms. This will enable citizens to access revenue-related services from their homes, saving time and resources.

Officials said that the proposal to convert all revenue tehsils into Future-Ready units has received approval during a recent review meeting of the Revenue Department. The upgraded tehsils will feature smart administrative infrastructure, integrated digital platforms, and enhanced data management systems to ensure transparency and accountability.

The project also envisions the use of AI-driven solutions and blockchain technology to strengthen data security, prevent fraud, and improve decision-making processes. The digital transformation of revenue administration is expected to support investment, economic activity, and development, particularly in rural areas of the state.

Described as a major step towards administrative reform, the Future-Ready Tehsil initiative is expected to play a key role in advancing Digital India and e-Governance at the tehsil level, reinforcing citizen-focused service delivery and contributing to Uttar Pradesh’s overall economic growth.
