Lucknow: In view of the prevailing cold wave conditions, District Magistrate of Lucknow, Vishakh G, conducted an extensive field inspection across several key locations in the city to ensure relief for the general public, especially the destitute and needy. The DM visited areas including Parivartan Chowk, KD Singh Stadium, Hazratganj Chauraha and Balu Adda, where he personally distributed blankets to those affected by the severe cold.
During the inspection of temporary night shelters at Parivartan Chowk and Balu Adda, the District Magistrate directed officials to ensure the availability of essential facilities such as cleanliness, adequate lighting, safe drinking water, bedding and sufficient blankets at all shelters.
Considering the intensity of the cold wave, instructions were also issued to concerned departments to make proper arrangements for bonfires at major public locations across the city. The DM further emphasized strengthening night patrols and field inspections to ensure that no vulnerable person remains exposed to harsh weather conditions. He directed local Additional City Magistrates and the Municipal Corporation’s zonal offices to facilitate the safe movement of needy individuals to night shelters.

Senior officials including the Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue), Tehsildar Sadar, Municipal Corporation Zonal Officers and other departmental officials were present during the inspection.
