Shahnaz Gill Opens Up About Struggles in Bollywood, Reveals Personal Challenges

Mumbai |  Actress Shahnaz Gill, who gained widespread recognition after participating in Bigg Boss 13, has opened up about the struggles she has faced in Bollywood. Known for her roles in films like Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Thank You for Coming, as well as her recent appearance in Bigg Boss 19, Shahnaz shared candidly about the challenges of finding meaningful roles in Hindi cinema and her experiences in Punjabi films.

“I Was Treated Like a Showpiece”
In an interview with Faridoon Shahryar, Shahnaz revealed that she invested her own money into her projects because she was not receiving good scripts. “I was not getting good stories. I felt like I was being used as a showpiece in films. The roles I was offered were all the same, with nothing new and no strong message. That’s when I decided it would be better to invest in myself,” she said.

Patience in Punjabi Cinema
Shahnaz also spoke about her career in Punjabi cinema, saying she had been receiving offers for the past five years but waited for the right project that could mark a meaningful return. “Many people tell me I wasted time in Punjabi films. That’s not true. I’ve learned a lot here. The Punjabi industry is huge. Even Bollywood films don’t succeed without a Punjabi song,” she added.

Latest Work and Production Venture
On the professional front, Shahnaz was last seen in the Punjabi film Ik Kudi, which she also produced. The film was directed by Amarjit Singh Saron and marked a significant step in her effort to balance acting and production.

Shahnaz’s revelations highlight the challenges many actors face in finding substantial roles, and her journey reflects both resilience and a commitment to meaningful storytelling in both Hindi and Punjabi cinema.
