A Season of Light and Reverence: Christmas Cantata at La Martiniere Girls’ College

Lucknow: La Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow, held its annual Service of Christmas Carols and Cantata, presenting an evening steeped in faith, music, and festive warmth. This year’s programme, titled “Light Has Come: Rejoice,” beautifully conveyed the message of Christmas through a thoughtful blend of scripture readings and choral music.

The service began with an introduction, followed by performances from the staff and choir, who set the tone with themes of light, hope, and joy. The auditorium was exquisitely decorated with warm lighting and festive elements, creating a serene and welcoming ambience. A small cart carrying symbolic gifts at the entrance added to the gentle celebratory spirit of the evening.

Scriptural readings highlighted the message of hope and were seamlessly interwoven with musical presentations. The Junior and Senior Choirs opened the musical segment with uplifting hymns, while the Senior Choir delivered expressive performances, including a soulful solo in “His Name Is Jesus” and a reflective rendition of “Mary’s Song.”

A special moment of unity was witnessed when the entire staff joined together to sing “Joy to the World.” The Staff Choir, Combined Choir, and Preparatory Choir further enriched the programme with coordinated performances of “Emmanuel, Celebrating Heaven’s Child” and the cheerful “I’m Happiest Christmas Tree.”

The service concluded with the Junior and Senior Choirs singing “The Glory of Christmas,” followed by the Benediction, leaving the audience with a sense of peace and gratitude.

The Lady Principal,  Ashrita Dass, formally closed the ceremony, expressing her appreciation to the staff, students, and all contributors for coming together to present a meaningful and uplifting Christmas programme.
