Lucknow: A special lecture focusing on Sampling Technique and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was organized on December 11th as part of the five-day workshop titled ‘Research Methodology and use of Statistical Techniques – From Data to Decision’ at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU). The event was hosted by the Department of Statistics.
The workshop featured two main speakers, Dr. Subhash Kumar Yadav and Dr. Meenakshi Mishra, with Dr. Rahul Varshney, the program convenor, playing a crucial role in the organization.
Key Insights from the Lectures
-
Sampling Techniques (by Dr. Subhash Kumar Yadav):
Dr. Yadav highlighted sampling as an effective alternative to complete enumeration due to constraints of time and money.
He emphasized that for any study, the sample must be a true representative of the population, which is only possible through the application of an appropriate sampling technique.
Crucially, he warned that an unsuitable sample will result in unreliable estimates, leading to policies that are neither realistic nor effective.

-
Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) (by Dr. Meenakshi Mishra):
Dr. Mishra lectured on Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), shedding light on its significance in modern research.
She underscored its utility in comparing the means of different groups and identifying significant differences between them.
The use of ANOVA was highlighted for its support of experimental designs across diverse fields such as social sciences, health research, agriculture, and data-driven policymaking.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the program convenor, Dr. Rahul Varshney. The event saw the attendance of various teachers, research scholars, and participants.
