Lucknow— Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) conducted a successful Prosthetics and Orthotics Awareness and Screening Camp today at Laxmi Narayan Bal Vidya Mandir, Salem Pur Patora, under the initiative of its Artificial Limb and Rehabilitation Centre. The camp aimed to educate students on artificial limbs, orthotic devices, body alignment issues, and the broader mission of empowering persons with disabilities.
A total of 250 participants were examined by a team led by Rajkamal. During the screening, symptoms of various physical disorders were identified in 48 children. Detailed assessments were carried out, particularly focusing on spinal irregularities and structural deformities of the lower limbs.
Children found with symptoms were advised to visit the Artificial Limb and Rehabilitation Centre for further evaluation and preliminary treatment. According to the department, the objective of such awareness camps is to inform students and the community about structural issues of the body, assistive devices, and their timely management to ensure early detection and intervention.
School Principal Amit Kumar appreciated the initiative and extended an invitation for conducting similar programmes in the future. Students also received expert guidance regarding rehabilitation services available at the university’s centre.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjay Singh, with support from Registrar Rohit Singh and Dean Academics Prof. V. K. Singh. The camp was coordinated by Dr. Ranjeet Kumar, Workshop Manager, along with Coordinator Rajkamal. Students of the Prosthetics and Orthotics Department played a pivotal role, contributing significantly to the camp’s efficient and impactful execution.
The department expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants, collaborators, and the school management for their support in making the event a success.
