Polythene Ban, Littering and Encroachment: Lucknow Municipal Corporation Intensifies Crackdown in Zone-7, Imposes ₹50,600 Fine in Two Days

Lucknow: Acting on the directives of Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation on Sunday and Monday carried out a strict two-day crackdown in Zone-7 against the use of banned polythene, littering, and unauthorized encroachments. The drive, led by Zonal Officer Rameshwar Prasad, aimed to reinforce sanitation standards and raise public awareness about cleanliness rules. Several municipal teams were deployed across the zone, taking swift action against violators.

November 16 Action: Drive from Deva Road (Kamta Crossing) to Indira Canal

On Sunday, the campaign covered the stretch from Deva Road Kamta Chauraha to Indira Canal, where Sanitation and Food Inspectors Brijesh Prajapati and Rupendra Bhaskar, along with a total of 296 team members, conducted checks. Multiple violations regarding banned polythene use, littering and encroachment were detected.

Fines collected:

  • Littering: ₹3,600

  • Use of banned polythene/plastic: ₹12,000
    Total: ₹15,600

Officials issued warnings to the violators, stating that repeat offences would result in stricter penalties.

November 17 Action: Inspection from Matiyari Crossing to Tata Telco–Indira Canal Road

On Monday, the crackdown continued from Matiyari Chauraha to Tata Telco–Indira Canal Road, with the participation of Zonal Officer Rameshwar Prasad, Tax Superintendent Vinay Kumar, and Sanitation & Food Inspectors Brijesh Prajapati, Rupendra Bhaskar, and Sanchita Mishra, supported again by 296 team members.

This time, the highest penalties were imposed for the use of banned polythene:

  • Use of banned polythene/plastic: ₹35,000
    Total: ₹35,000

Municipal Commissioner Commends Action

Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar praised the coordinated effort of both days, stating:

“The use of banned polythene and activities that contribute to littering harm the environment and hinder the city’s cleanliness mission. The Municipal Corporation will continue strict enforcement and ensure compliance with rules. Citizens are urged to support cleanliness efforts and avoid such violations.”

The intensified drive in Zone-7 reflects Lucknow Municipal Corporation’s commitment to maintaining hygiene standards and creating a cleaner, safer environment for residents.
