Youth’s Murder Accused Arrested by Police, Sent to Jail

Banda: Police in Banda district have arrested two men accused of murdering a 21-year-old youth, Premchand Prajapati, a resident of Sahadi Ka Purwa under the Dehat police station area. The incident, which took place on November 5, had sparked outrage in the local community after the victim succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

According to police reports, Premchand was called by some acquaintances to meet near the bypass crossing close to a liquor shop in Gureh village. An argument broke out between them, which soon escalated into violence. The accused allegedly attacked Premchand with sticks and rods, leaving him seriously injured.

His family rushed him to the district hospital, from where he was referred to PGI Saifai in Etawah due to his critical condition. Despite receiving medical treatment, Premchand passed away on November 9, 2025, while undergoing care.

Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Brijbihari Prajapati, police launched an intensive search for the accused. The Dehat police team successfully arrested two main suspects identified as Pranjal, son of Santosh, resident of Balkhandi Naka, and Satyam, son of Rambabu, resident of Ardali Bazaar — both from Kotwali Nagar area, Banda.

The arrest operation was carried out by a team led by Head Constable Chandraprakash Tiwari, along with Constables Sachin Patel, Abhishek Mishra, and Woman Constable Sapna Ahirwar.

Police have confirmed that the arrested individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and have been sent to judicial custody.

Authorities said that the timely action by law enforcement helped pacify the victim’s family and prevent further unrest in the area.
