CM Yogi Adityanath Inaugurates Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Housing Scheme; 72 Families Receive Allotment Letters in Lucknow

Lucknow: On the auspicious occasion of Kartik Purnima, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Awas Yojana in Lucknow and handed over allotment letters to 72 economically weaker families. The event marked a major step in the state government’s mission to provide affordable housing to the underprivileged, especially in prime locations of Lucknow.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister extended his greetings on Kartik Purnima and said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government has provided over 60 lakh homes to needy families through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana during the past eight and a half years. “Through this initiative, the government is not only building homes but ensuring dignity, security, and hope for every citizen,” he stated.

The Chief Minister inspected the newly constructed flats, visited the nearby Sewage Treatment Plant, and planted a sapling in the ‘Ekta Van’ (Unity Forest) — a green area dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

Highlighting the symbolic significance of the occasion, CM Yogi said, “The biggest tribute to Sardar Patel on his 150th birth anniversary is to ensure that the poor have a roof over their heads. These houses, built on land freed from the clutches of land mafias, represent social justice and equality.”

He further emphasized that the state government has maintained a strict ‘zero tolerance policy’ toward crime and mafia activities, reclaiming vast stretches of land once illegally occupied by criminals. “If anyone tries to exploit the poor, traders, or public property, the government will respond in the same language,” he asserted.

For the 72 flats, a total of 8,000 applications were received, of which 5,700 were found eligible. The Chief Minister directed the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) to continue developing affordable housing schemes so that more families can fulfill their dream of owning a home. Each flat, valued at ₹10.7 lakh, has been made available at subsidized rates, with additional benefits under central housing schemes.

CM Yogi also announced that the government is working to establish Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Employment Centers in every district of Uttar Pradesh. These centers will focus on skill development and job creation, enabling youth to secure employment within the state.

Speaking on the state’s progress, the Chief Minister noted that Uttar Pradesh has transformed into a state of limitless potential, with an improving law and order situation and growing investor confidence. “In the past eight and a half years, the state has received investment proposals worth nearly ₹45 lakh crore, of which ₹15 lakh crore have already been implemented. Another ₹5 lakh crore worth of projects are in the pipeline,” he said.

The Chief Minister added, “In the new Uttar Pradesh of a new India, we are witnessing an extraordinary harmony between development and heritage. The government is committed to the welfare of farmers, traders, youth, and every section of society.”

During the event, a short documentary film on the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Housing Scheme was screened. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for ensuring a transparent and fair allocation process.

The event was also attended by Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, MPs Dinesh Sharma, Brijlal, and Sanjay Seth, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, MLAs Neeraj Bora, Yogesh Shukla, and O.P. Srivastava, MLC Mukesh Sharma, Engineer Avneesh Kumar Singh, Dr. Lalji Prasad Nirmal, Ramchandra Pradhan, Pawan Singh Chauhan, and several other dignitaries.
