Deepotsav 2025: Ayodhya Set to Create New World Record with 28 Lakh Diyas, Lakshman Kila Ghat Emerges as New Attraction

Ayodhya: The sacred city of Ayodhya is preparing to illuminate the world once again as Deepotsav 2025 gears up to become the grandest and most historic celebration to date. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the 9th edition of Deepotsav will showcase cultural pride, spiritual splendour and global recognition for India’s heritage.

This year, 56 ghats along the Sarayu River will glow with 28 lakh earthen lamps (diyas)—a breathtaking visual spectacle aimed at setting a new Guinness World Record. A total of 33 lakh diyas have been arranged, ensuring unmatched grandeur.

Lakshman Kila Ghat debuts as a major highlight

For the first time, Lakshman Kila Ghat has been included in the festival and will shine with 4.25 lakh diyas, making it one of the star attractions of Deepotsav 2025.
Other key illuminations include:

  • Ram Ki Paidi (Main Highlight): 15–16 lakh diyas

  • Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghat: 4.5 lakh diyas

  • Bhajan Sandhya Ghat: 5.5 lakh diyas

The Sarayu riverfront will be transformed into an ocean of light, reflecting devotion and unity. CM Yogi Adityanath will personally light the first diya, followed by a thunderous chant of “Jai Shri Ram”, filling the atmosphere with devotion.

Global cultural significance

Deepotsav is not just a religious celebration, but a symbol of Sanatan culture, spirituality, harmony, and world brotherhood. Guided by the vision of CM Yogi, the festival promotes Ayodhya as a global cultural capital and Uttar Pradesh as a premier spiritual tourism hub.
Millions of devotees and international visitors are expected to witness the divine glow of the event.

To ensure flawless execution, 22 committees led by Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Awadh University’s Deepotsav Nodal Officer Prof. Sant Sharan Mishra are working round the clock.
