Mumbai: On the 83rd birthday of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, Padma Shri award-winning sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik dedicated a breathtaking sand art installation on the shores of Puri Beach, Odisha, turning the coastline into a grand artistic canvas.
The installation featured a sculpture of Big B along with a film reel showcasing iconic roles from some of his most memorable films, including Coolie, Laawaris, Sharaabi, Mard, and Faraar. Sharing the artwork on X (formerly Twitter), Pattnaik wrote:
“My special sand art installation painting dedicated to @SrBachchan ji on his 83rd birthday — a heartfelt tribute to the Mahanayak of Indian Cinema. Remembering the legacy of a legend who inspires generations to come.”
Pattnaik, renowned for his intricate sand sculptures that draw global tourists, received the Padma Shri in 2014 for his artistic excellence.
Amitabh Bachchan, fondly known as Big B, has appeared in over 200 films, rising to superstardom with classics such as Anand, Zanjeer, Deewaar, Sholay, Don, and Amar Akbar Anthony. After a brief hiatus in the 1990s, he made a powerful comeback with Mohabbatein and went on to deliver acclaimed performances in Black, Paa, Pink, Sarkar, and Kalki 2898 AD.

The six-time National Film Award winner and recipient of the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan, currently hosts the hit quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
His latest appearance was in Vettaiyan alongside Rajinikanth, and up next, he will be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s “Ramayan: Part 1” as Jatayu, starring with Yash, Ranbir Kapoor, and Sai Pallavi.
