Lucknow: In a landmark initiative aimed at providing quality healthcare to ex-servicemen and their dependents, Medanta Hospital, Lucknow, has been included in the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). The agreement was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Army and Medanta Hospital.
Representing the Army, Major General Salil Seth, General Officer Commanding of the Central Uttar Pradesh Sub-Area, attended the event. Medanta Hospital was represented by Medical Director Dr. Rakesh Kapoor along with heads of various departments.
As the largest super-specialty hospital in the Lucknow region, Medanta’s inclusion in ECHS will benefit nearly 500,000 ex-servicemen and their families. The services will also be available to beneficiaries from neighboring states, including Bihar. Previously, ex-servicemen had to travel to Delhi or Gurugram for advanced medical care, but now these services are accessible locally.

Medanta Hospital will provide comprehensive healthcare, including cardiology, neurology, oncology, nephrology, gastroenterology, joint replacement, trauma and emergency care, critical care, anesthesia, urology, gynecology, pediatrics, pulmonology, radiology, laboratory services, blood bank, dental care, physiotherapy, dietetics, and ambulance services.
The hospital’s integration into ECHS fulfills a longstanding demand of the ex-servicemen community, ensuring high-quality, world-class healthcare close to home.
