Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Maruti Suzuki’s state-of-the-art electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Ahmedabad, marking what he described as a new chapter in India’s ‘Make in India’ journey. Addressing the gathering, he announced that EVs built in India will now be exported to 100 countries, proudly carrying the tag “Made in India.”
“On this auspicious occasion of Ganesh Utsav, India’s journey of Make in India and Make for the World is taking a giant leap forward,” PM Modi said. He also launched hybrid battery electrolyte manufacturing, terming it a milestone for India’s green mobility ecosystem.
The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of Indo-Japanese cooperation in this achievement. “This day adds a new dimension to the friendship between India and Japan. I extend my congratulations to the people of India, Japan, and Suzuki for this milestone,” he added.

Call to States for Competitive Reforms
Urging Indian states to capitalize on this momentum, PM Modi said, “Today, the whole world is looking towards India. No state should lag behind in this moment of opportunity. Investors coming to India should be in a dilemma — whether to choose this state or that state. I invite all states to compete in reforms and pro-development policies.”

India’s Democratic Strength and Global Trust
Highlighting India’s global positioning, PM Modi asserted that the country’s democracy, skilled workforce, and reform-driven policies create a win-win situation for both domestic and foreign partners.
He noted that Suzuki Japan manufacturing cars in India — and exporting them back to Japan — is not just a symbol of deepening India-Japan relations, but also a reflection of the global trust in India’s manufacturing capabilities.
The inauguration of Maruti Suzuki’s EV plant is seen as a pivotal step toward strengthening India’s role in the global EV supply chain and achieving the government’s vision of making the country a hub for sustainable mobility solutions.
