Mumbai: New Chelsea signing João Pedro has spoken of his excitement and ambition after completing his move to Stamford Bridge. Speaking to JioHotstar, the Brazilian forward revealed how familiar surroundings in Miami during pre-season and warm welcomes from teammates helped him settle quickly. “Miami felt similar to Brazil, which helped me settle in,” he said, adding that compatriot Andrey Santos had painted a glowing picture of the club before his arrival.
Pedro, who grew up watching Chelsea from afar, said the club’s rich history and star-studded past were key factors in his decision. He also sought advice from Chelsea legend David Luiz, who offered valuable guidance on his career path.
Describing himself as a “technical player” who loves scoring goals and creating chances, Pedro believes his Premier League experience will aid his adaptation. “It’s the same league, just different players,” he noted, confident that training with his new teammates will be a smooth transition.

Looking ahead, the forward was clear about his ambitions. “When you join Chelsea, there’s only one thing to think about: winning titles,” he said. “That is my ambition—to win titles with Chelsea.”
Speaking on JioHotstar, João Pedro shared his feelings after signing for Chelsea: “It was a great moment to meet everyone. Miami felt similar to Brazil, which helped me settle in. I’d been talking to Andrey [Andrey Santos] on Instagram, asking about the team, the club, and he said really good things. So, I’m happy to have joined.”

On why he chose Chelsea as the next step in his career:
“It’s because of the club’s history. Growing up in Brazil, I saw so many people watch football and support Chelsea. I was one of those youngsters. Chelsea had brilliant players in the past and still has great players now. It’s a big club, and that’s why I chose to join.”

He also spoke about his conversations with Chelsea legend David Luiz: “I’m a little close to David Luiz. I spoke with him about Chelsea, my career, and how I can develop better, and he has been very helpful to me.”
He described the qualities he would bring to Chelsea: “I’m a very technical player. I love to score goals. When I was younger, I also played in midfield, so I can provide good passes to my teammates. Overall, I’d say I’m a quality, technical player.”
On how his experience in the Premier League and Europe has helped his development: “Spending a long time in one league makes it easier for a player to adapt. For example, moving from my previous club to Chelsea is easier because it’s the same league, just different players. I think once I start training with my new teammates, it will be good. Playing in the league already means it will be easier for me.”
On his ambitions after signing for Chelsea: “When you join Chelsea, there’s only one thing to think about: winning titles. In every tournament you play, you represent Chelsea, and the goal is to win. That is my ambition—to win titles with Chelsea.”
