Heavy Rain Batters Lucknow, Municipal Teams Spring Into Action; Commissioner Gaurav Kumar Leads On-Ground Assessment

Lucknow — As heavy rainfall lashed the city on Monday, Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) teams swung into action, working round the clock to address waterlogging and ensure public safety. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar personally visited several affected areas to review the ground situation and oversee emergency response measures.

Braving the rain, Commissioner Kumar inspected Sapan Sweets intersection near Kathauta Lake and Zone 1’s Ghassiyari Mandi Pumping Station, where teams were engaged in pumping out water. Responding swiftly to waterlogging complaints near Pink City, Budheshwar, and the State Juvenile Home, the Commissioner ensured dewatering was carried out promptly, accompanied by Zonal Officer Manoj Yadav and Executive Engineer Jhillu Ram.

Public Advisory Issued

Commissioner Gaurav Kumar issued a public advisory urging residents to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary during intense downpours. He specifically warned against standing near electric poles and under trees, citing risks of electrocution and falling branches.

“Your safety is our priority. Please cooperate with the municipal teams and follow official advisories,” said Kumar.

Citywide Monitoring in Full Swing

Municipal authorities across different city zones were on high alert and conducting real-time inspections.

  • Additional Municipal Commissioner Lalit Kumar assessed drainage and traffic around the Vidhan Sabha area.
  • In Zone 6, Zonal Officer Manoj Yadav supervised ongoing drain-cleaning operations.
  • Ajit Rai in Zone 8 conducted site inspections in waterlogged areas.
  • Additional Commissioner Namrata Singh reviewed the situation in Jankipuram (Zone 3).
  • Zonal Officer Nandkishore covered Kailashpuri and Alambagh (Zone 5) to ensure swift response to resident complaints.

Precautionary Measures for Citizens

  • Avoid wading through waterlogged streets to prevent infections and accidents.
  • Stay away from electric poles and transformers during rainfall.
  • Do not take shelter under trees.
  • Follow updates from local authorities and dial helplines in case of emergencies.

With overcast skies and continued rain predicted, Lucknow’s civic body remains on high alert, working diligently to keep the city moving and its people safe.
