LUCKNOW – The Vigilance team of the power department, in a joint operation with a junior engineer from Ahirbanpur, R.B. Verma, conducted a morning checking drive in the areas of Kadam Rasool, Madheyganj, and Rambagia. The raids were aimed at cracking down on electricity theft, which has been a persistent problem in the region.
During the operation, several individuals were caught illegally consuming electricity, with a combined load of 25 kW. The individuals identified for electricity theft include Tahmina, wife of Ejaz Ullah; Mohd. Arif, son of Mohd. Yameen; Abdul Ghaffar, son of Abdul Jabbar; Mohd. Ikhlaq, son of Haji Khuda Bux; Shamsuddin, son of Akhtar Ali; Mohammad Arif, son of late Mohammad Waheed; Samudra, son of late Ahmed Raza; and Mohammad Farooq, son of late Maqbool Hasan.

Cases have been registered against all of them under Section 135 of the Electricity Act. The department has issued a statement urging all citizens to refrain from electricity theft and to pay their bills on time. They have also confirmed that these checking drives will continue in the future to ensure compliance with the law and to reduce the revenue loss caused by illegal power usage.
