VARANASI: The double-engine government is set to deliver a major gift to the nation’s farmers just before Raksha Bandhan in the holy month of Shravan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Varanasi on August 2nd to release the 20th installment of the “PM Kisan Samman Nidhi” scheme, directly benefiting millions of farmers across the country.
The Prime Minister will remotely transfer over Rs 20,500 crore into the bank accounts of more than 9.70 crore eligible farmers nationwide. This significant financial boost comes as a timely relief for the agricultural community.
Beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh and Varanasi

The event holds special significance for Uttar Pradesh and the Prime Minister’s parliamentary constituency, Varanasi.
- Uttar Pradesh: Over 2.30 crore farmers in the state will be the recipients of approximately Rs 4,600 crore from this installment.
- Varanasi: The Prime Minister’s home constituency will see its 2.21 lakh farmers receive a total of Rs 48 crore.
Joint Director of Agriculture, Shailendra Kumar, stated that under the PM Kisan scheme, eligible landholding farmer families receive an annual financial benefit of ₹6,000, disbursed in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. Farmers in Varanasi have already received a cumulative total of over Rs 850 crore through the previous 19 installments.


PM’s Itinerary: Inaugurations and Public Address
In addition to the PM Kisan event, the Prime Minister’s visit will include a public address at Benauli village in the Sewapuri block. From this venue, PM Modi is also set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 52 development projects worth a combined Rs 2183.45 crore.
The Prime Minister is expected to arrive at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport around 10:30 AM, where he will be received by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other dignitaries. The event underscores the government’s continuous commitment to supporting the nation’s agricultural sector.
