Asia Cup 2025 Set for UAE from September 9–28; India-Pakistan May Clash Thrice

Dubai | The suspense surrounding the upcoming edition of the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 has finally ended. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi confirmed via his official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) account that the continental tournament will be held from September 9 to 28 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A detailed match schedule will be released soon.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, traditional rivals India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group, potentially setting the stage for three high-stakes encounters — one in the group stage, another in the Super Four, and possibly a final showdown if both teams advance.

Dress Rehearsal for T20 World Cup 2026

The Asia Cup will feature eight nations competing in the T20 format, serving as a preparatory platform for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament’s format ensures at least one India-Pakistan clash in the group stage, keeping fans and broadcasters excited.

Political Tensions Still a Backdrop

India-Pakistan cricket ties continue to reflect the geopolitical strain between the two nations. Recently, the World Championship of Legends (WCL) final between teams from India and Pakistan was cancelled due to public backlash and security concerns. Indian legends like Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Irfan and Yusuf Pathan, and Shikhar Dhawan withdrew from the match following increased tensions post the April terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

Final ACC Decision in Dhaka

The final decision regarding the Asia Cup’s schedule was taken earlier this week during an ACC meeting in Dhaka. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been tasked with finalizing logistics and releasing the official schedule on ACC platforms by this weekend.

Matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

All 19 matches are expected to be hosted across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, maintaining the UAE’s reputation as a neutral and well-equipped venue for major cricketing events.

Last India-Pakistan Clash

The two sides last met in the 2025 Champions Trophy, where Virat Kohli’s century guided India to a comfortable six-wicket win over Pakistan in Dubai. India eventually went on to clinch the title.

As anticipation builds, all eyes are on the release of the full schedule — with cricket lovers around the world eagerly awaiting the chance to witness the fiercest rivalry in the sport once again.
