Lucknow : In a significant breakthrough, Lucknow Police have arrested Rahul Kumar Verma, a key accused in a kidnapping and ransom case who had been on the run for several months. Acting on concrete intelligence, a dedicated team from Husainganj Police Station tracked down and apprehended the fugitive from his native residence in Pratapgarh.
The arrest was made under the supervision and guidance of DCP Central, ADCP Central, and ACP Hazratganj, as part of an ongoing crackdown on absconding criminals. SHO Husainganj Ram Kumar Gupta and his team led the operation that resulted in the successful arrest of the accused.
Rahul had been evading police arrest in connection with a previously registered case involving kidnapping and demanding ransom. His three co-accused had already been arrested and sent to jail earlier by the Husainganj Police team.
The arrest operation was conducted by a team comprising SI Sagar Khurana, SI Shivam Verma, and Constable Chandra Kiran, who acted swiftly and decisively to nab Rahul from Pratapgarh. According to police sources, Rahul had been hiding at his ancestral home and had been shifting locations to avoid detection.
Background of the Case:
The original case, which involved the abduction of an individual followed by a ransom demand, had sent shockwaves through the central Lucknow region. Police quickly identified the culprits, and while three were promptly arrested, Rahul had managed to escape and remained untraceable — until now.
Police Statement:
Speaking to the press, SHO Ram Kumar Gupta said, “This arrest was a result of coordinated surveillance and intelligence gathering. We had been tracking the movement of the accused for a while and finally managed to arrest him from his native place. This sends a clear message that criminals cannot escape the law, no matter where they hide.”
Further interrogation of Rahul Kumar Verma is underway to gather more information regarding the crime and any possible accomplices. Police have not ruled out the possibility of Rahul’s involvement in other cases as well.
The accused has been formally taken into custody and is now behind bars, as further legal proceedings continue. The police have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring law and order in the city and bringing all fugitives to justice without delay.
This arrest adds to the string of successes for Lucknow Police’s Central Zone, which has recently intensified efforts to locate and apprehend absconding offenders involved in serious crimes.
