Power Department Employees Attacked with Sticks During Inspection, FIR Lodged
Lucknow: A shocking incident unfolded in the Toap Darwaza locality under the jurisdiction of the Saadatganj police station in Lucknow, where a team from the Electricity Department was attacked by a mob during a routine inspection. Around 10-15 individuals surrounded and assaulted the employees with sticks and rods, forcing them to flee for their lives.
According to the FIR filed by contractual worker Kushal, the Power Department Employees—comprising Kushal, Indra Bahadur, lineman Ajit Kumar, and Prabhat Verma—had set out from the 33/11 kV substation in Chowk to investigate electricity theft and recover outstanding bills. At approximately 2:10 p.m., the team reached the Toap Darwaza area and began their inspection at the residence of one Sajjan Hussain.
As per the complaint, Hussain objected to the inspection and quickly gathered a crowd. Soon after, the mob allegedly turned violent, assaulted the officials, and threatened them with death if they returned to the locality. Indra Bahadur specifically claimed that Sajjan incited the attack.
Fearing for their safety, the frightened employees managed to escape the scene. Police have begun investigating the matter based on the FIR lodged at the Saadatganj police station.
