Lucknow: A video captured by journalist Ashutosh Tripathi showing a group of over 20 bikers performing dangerous stunts on public roads went viral on social media on Monday, prompting police to launch an investigation. The 28-second clip, which surfaced on platform X (formerly Twitter), captures the bikers riding recklessly across an entire road, with many of them not wearing helmets.
During the stunt, one biker lost control and crashed into a road divider. The collision caused two more bikes, riding close behind, to collide with each other and overturn, injuring four more individuals. In total, five riders sustained injuries in the incident.
According to Hasanaganj Police Station Inspector Amar Singh, the video is under review, but the exact date of the incident remains unconfirmed. He added that a probe has been launched and efforts are underway to identify the individuals involved. The injured were seen being picked up and taken away by their fellow riders.
The police have not ruled out further legal action under traffic and public safety laws once the individuals are identified and the full details are verified.
