Lucknow : The Lucknow branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) celebrated Doctors’ Day on July 1 at IMA Bhawan, River Bank Colony, in remembrance of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.C. Roy, one of India’s greatest physicians and educators. The event saw a large turnout of doctors along with their families and children.
The celebrations were graced by Chief Guest Dr. Sonia Nityanand, Vice Chancellor of KGMU, and Guest of Honour Dr. B.N. Gupta, former IMA UP State President, and Dr. N.B. Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Lucknow. A floral tribute was offered at the portrait of Dr. B.C. Roy to mark the beginning of the ceremony.
In her keynote address, Dr. Sonia Nityanand praised the medical profession as one of the most noble forms of public service. She lauded the selfless contribution of doctors in strengthening the nation’s health and building a resilient society.
Dr. B.N. Gupta emphasized that Doctors’ Day serves as a special occasion for society to acknowledge and express gratitude to the medical community. Echoing his sentiments, Dr. N.B. Singh reiterated the significance of recognising doctors’ invaluable role, especially in today’s fast-evolving healthcare landscape.
IMA Lucknow President Dr. Sarita Singh welcomed the dignitaries and attendees. She also addressed pressing issues concerning the medical fraternity and shared inspirational insights about Dr. B.C. Roy’s legacy to inspire the younger generation of doctors.
