Mehbooba Mufti Praises Iran, Calls It a New Leader of Islamic World Amid Israel Conflict

Srinagar — People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti stirred political debate ] with her bold remarks praising Iran over its handling of the recent conflict with Israel. She said that Iran has emerged as the undisputed leader among Islamic nations, commending its “courage and determination” in confronting the U.S. and Israel.

“I salute the Iranian leadership for its bravery,” Mehbooba Mufti stated during a press interaction. “They may not have nuclear weapons, but they have faith and a will to become martyrs. Their military and citizens have fought with exceptional resolve.”

Criticism of Israel and the U.S.

Mehbooba called Israel a “stooge of the United States”, asserting that Iran had forced both countries to “bend their knees”. She pointed to the recent ceasefire brokered after intense military exchanges between Iran and Israel, saying, “When Donald Trump talks about ceasefire, it means the outcome of the war has gone against the expectations of America and Israel.”

Other Muslim Nations Merely “Lip Service”

In sharp remarks aimed at other Muslim-majority nations, Mufti said, “This conflict has proven that while many Muslim countries merely move their lips, Iran stood tall. The U.S. is used to attacking Muslim countries at will — Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria — but this time it had to face real consequences.”

On Trump’s Nobel Peace Nomination

Reacting to reports of Pakistan proposing a Nobel Peace Prize for former U.S. President Donald Trump, Mehbooba dismissed the idea as “immature and premature.” She said, “It’s disappointing that Pakistan even considered nominating someone who doesn’t know what he says one moment and contradicts himself the next.”

Mehbooba’s remarks have sparked sharp political reactions across India, especially given the sensitive nature of international diplomacy and ongoing regional tensions.
